Metropolitan Jovan Enthroned as Metropolitan of Krushevo-Demir Hisar

Ohrid- Macedonia: Metropolitan Jovan was enthroned as the Metropolitan of Krushevo-Demir Hisar at the Cathedral of Saint Nicholas in Kruševo on September 3, 2023. He received the pastoral staff from Metropolitan Petar of Prespa-Pelagonia and the Administrator of Australia-New Zealand.

Metropolitan Joanikije of Montenegro and Littoral, Metropolitan Grigorij of Kumanovo-Osog, Bishops Pachomije of Vranje, Joachim of Deljadro-Ilinden, Marko of Delchevsko-Kamenichki, David of Dremvitski, Kliment of Herakle, and Jacob of Stobia participated in the liturgy and enthronement ceremony.

The Holy Liturgy and the act of enthronement were attended by many faithful people, including the Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia to the Republic of North Macedonia, Nevena Jovanović.

This marks a significant step in the full unification of the Orthodox Church in Macedonia, following peace negotiations led by the Serbian Orthodox Church. The Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric was granted a Tomos by the Serbian Orthodox Church. Metropolitan Jovan faced persecution for his stance against the ‘Uncanonical Macedonian Orthodox Church’ and his efforts to establish the Orthodox Archbishopric of Ohrid under the Serbian Orthodox Church.
