His Holiness Patriarch Kirill Received the Head of the Affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection

Moscow- Russia: On 17 October 2023, at the Patriarchal and Synodal residence in the Danilov Monastery in Moscow, a meeting took place between His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia and the manager of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate, Metropolitan Gregory of the Resurrection.

The Primate of the Russian Orthodox Church presented Metropolitan Gregory with three decrees, as well as an order on the appointment of the First Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’, announcing them:

  • “By the resolution of Ours and the Holy Synod of 11 October 2023, magazine No. 91, you are determined to be the Eminence of the Resurrection, vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia, with release from the administration of the Ekaterinodar diocese and an expression of gratitude for the labors incurred;
  • By Our Decree and the Holy Synod of 11 October 2023, Journal No. 91, you are appointed to the position of manager of the affairs of the Moscow Patriarchate;
  • By Our Decree, you are appointed to the position of First Vicar of the Patriarch of Moscow and All Rus’;
  • By Our Decree and the Holy Synod of 11 October 2023, Journal No. 91, you are appointed to the position of abbot of the Novospassky Stauropegic Monastery .”

In turn, Metropolitan Gregory thanked His Holiness for his highest trust and asked for the Patriarchal blessing for the work and prayers of His Holiness.

“Thank you for your trust. This obedience calls me to great responsibility and encourages me to be diligent, vigilant, and attentive in carrying it out. On the one hand, this is a great position and a great honor, but, on the other hand, it is also a huge responsibility. Therefore, I ask for the blessings and prayers of Your Holiness,” said Metropolitan Gregory.

His Holiness Patriarch Kirill admonished Metropolitan Gregory: “God bless, Vladyka. I bless you on this difficult but responsible path, which can bring a lot of good to the life of our Church, our clergy, and our laity. God help you.”
