Serbian Patriarch to Lead Unification in Macedonian Orthodox Church on 05 June 2023

Ohrid- Macedonia: Serbian Patriarch Porfirije will lead the formal unification of the Macedonian Orthodox Church and its anniversary of receiving tomos on 05 June 2023 at St. Sophia Cathedral in Ohrid. Four Macedonian bishops who were under the Serbian Patriarchate, including Archbishop Jovan will formally unite with the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric.
The service and celebration will be broadcasted on the state television channel.
Tomos of Autocephaly was presented to Archbishop Stephen, Primate of the Macedonian Orthodox Church – Ohrid Archbishopric by Serbian Patriarch Porfirije on June 05, 2022, at the Cathedral of the Holy Archangel Michael in Belgrade. Later this was accepted by Antiochian, Russian, Bulgarian, Ukrainian, Romanian, Czech-Slovak, and Polish Orthodox Churches, though the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople, Greek, Albanian, and Georgia has recognized the Macedonian church but has not yet recognized the Tomos given by Serbia.
