Warsaw-Poland: The Holy Council of Bishops of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church, led by His Beatitude Sawa – Archbishop of Warsaw and Metropolitan of All Poland, convened its autumn session on 24 October 2023.

The Council discussed the current state of church life in Orthodox Churches, emphasizing the need for unity within the Church. They expressed deep concern about the non-canonical situation in Ukraine and delegalization by state authorities (bill No. 8371). The Council underlined that the Church operates under divine guidance, calling for intense prayers for peace in Ukraine and the Holy Land amidst ongoing conflicts.

From Synodal statement:

The Holy Council of Bishops of the Polish Autocephalous Orthodox Church received with great misunderstanding the information about the delegalization of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church by the state authorities. The Council of Bishops pays particular attention to the fact that the Church of Christ has an ontological dimension and is not subject to human legal regulations. It is guided by Jesus Christ himself, our Savior. Council of Bishops, in accordance with the call of the Archbishop Paul “May you have peace with everyone” (Rom. 12:18) calls for intense prayer for peace in Ukraine and the Holy Land, where fighting has begun and innocent people are dying.
