Mar Boutros Kassis Enthroned as Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs

Aleppo – Syria: Archbishop Mar Boutros Kassis was enthroned on the Archbishopric of Aleppo and Environs on 15 October 2022 at St. Aphrem Cathedral in Aleppo.
The enthronement ceremony was led by Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of the Syrian Orthodox Church and members of the holy synod of the Syrian Orthodox Church.
Archbishop of Damascus Armash Nalbandian represented the Armenian Orthodox Church in the enthronement ceremony which was also attended by delegations from other Christian churches in Aleppo.
Enthronement came in as a result of official confirmation of the unanimous election of Mar Boutros Kassis as Archbishop for the Archdiocese of Aleppo and Environs on Saturday 03 September 2022.
The seat of Archbishop of Aleppo and Environs became vacant after the Abduction of Mor Youhanna Ibrahim on April 22, 2013.

Archbishop Mar Boutros Kassis was consecrated on 18 October 2019 as a patriarchal assistant holding additional charge of the patriarchal vicar of Aleppo. Mar Boutros Kassis was functioning as the patriarchal delegate since the abduction of Mor Youhanna Ibrahim.
