Nicosia – Cyprus: In a significant step towards preserving the memory of the Holocaust and combating anti-Semitism, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on February 27, 2024, in a special ceremony at the Cypriot Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth.

Signatories:

  • Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus
  • Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus for Church of Cyprus
  • Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports of the Hellenic Republic
  • Metropolitan Panteleimon of Maroneia and Komotini for Church of Greece
  • Central Jewish Council of Greece
  • Jewish Museum of Greece

Key Actions:

  • Organize seminars
  • Create a joint digital platform for educators in Cyprus and Greece to collaborate
  • Undertake educational initiatives including:
    • Annual student competition on the Holocaust
    • School visits to relevant sites
    • Student-led projects on the topic

Joint Working Committee:

A committee will be formed with representatives from all six signatories to identify and further develop areas of cooperation.
