Nicosia – Cyprus: Following the military parade commemorating the anniversary of the Republic of Cyprus’ declaration on October 1, 2023, Archbishop George delivered a resolute message. He described the Republic of Cyprus as the last bastion and ultimate tool for achieving freedom. The Archbishop stressed the nation’s reliance on the Republic of Cyprus for its liberation efforts, honoring the enduring spirit of ancestors who maintained their national and religious identity during eight centuries of adversity. He also paid tribute to the valiant fighters of the national liberation struggle who secured the Republic of Cyprus through their sacrifices. Moreover, he emphasized the collective duty to protect the Republic of Cyprus and its independence.

Highlighting Turkey’s persistent intentions, Archbishop George underscored the importance of recognizing the responsibility to stand resolute. Instead of repeatedly conceding ground or making appeals, he argued that the conqueror wouldn’t yield, even in discussions or negotiations. He concluded by emphasizing that the adversary must feel a sense of trepidation before contemplating a withdrawal.
