Annual Briefing and Task Session Held at Orthodox Military Ordinariate in Warsaw

Warsaw-Poland: In a gathering marked by solemnity and reflection, the Orthodox Ordinariate of the Polish Army conducted its annual settlement and task briefing for chaplains and employees at its headquarters in Warsaw on 23 November 2023.

Under the guidance of the Orthodox Military Ordinary, His Excellency Archbishop Jerzy, the day commenced with a service held in the ordinariate cathedral. The hierarchs were accompanied by representatives of chaplains, including Fr. Colonel Mitrat Director Aleksy Andrejuk, Fr. Second Lieutenant Director Piotr Rajecki, and Protodeacon Lt. Tomasz Pieczarka. The prayer service took on a solemn character, enriched by the melodious singing of the chaplains led by Fr. Lt. Col. Łukasz Godun.

Transitioning to the POWP conference room, Archbishop Jerzy inaugurated the proceedings with a heartfelt speech, expressing gratitude to the chaplains for their dedicated service to both the Church and the Homeland in the Polish Army and uniformed services. His Excellency summarized the achievements of the past year and outlined forthcoming tasks and projects slated for implementation in 2024, a jubilee year for the Ordinariate community.

The meeting delved into discussions on pastoral activities related to the Polish Army, the Police, and the Border Guard, addressing pertinent issues and tasks. As a notable highlight, the ceremony witnessed the presentation of the Minister of National Defense’s decision, appointing Protodeacon 2nd Lieutenant of the Polish Army, Tomasz Pieczarka, to the rank of Lieutenant of the Polish Army.
