Three Monks Martyred in South Africa as Gunmen Target Coptic Monastery

Cairo – Egypt: Unidentified gunmen attacked the monastery of Saint Mark and Bishop Samuel the Confessor, affiliated with the Coptic Orthodox Church in the Diocese of South Africa.

 As a result of this attack, three Coptic monks were killed:

 – Father Monk Takla, Deputy Archbishopric of South Africa, and Secretary to Bishop Antonius Markus, Metropolitan of South Africa.

 – Monk Justus Ava Marcos

 – Monk Mina Ava Marcos

His Holiness Pope Tawadros II is closely following the situation with the Egyptian ambassador to South Africa, to determine the circumstances of the incident.
