Rovenky Diocese of UOC Received into Russian Orthodox Church

OCP News Service – 16/10/2022

Moscow – Russia: The Holy Synod of the Russian Orthodox Church received the Rovenky diocese of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church into the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate on 13th October 2022 as per the request of His Eminence Archbishop Arkady of Rovenky and Sverdlovsk and the diocesan council. The Rovenky Diocese is located in the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic which is under Russia.

As per the Russian Synodal report, the decision to receive the Rovenky diocese is based on the need to maintain an effective canonical and administrative connection with the central church authorities for the successful flow of church life in the Rovenky diocese and considering the practical impossibility of regular communication between this diocese and the Kyiv Metropolis.

In June 2022, the Russian Orthodox Church received the three Crimean dioceses under UOC.
