Romania Observed 98th Establishment Anniversary of the Romanian Patriarchate

Bucharest-Romania: The faithful and hierarchy of the Romanian Orthodox Church observed the 98th anniversary of the establishment of their Patriarchate on the 4th of February, 2023. Following Romania’s Great Union in 1918, the Holy Synod of the Church resolved to establish the Patriarchate on the 4th of February, 1925.
Patriarchate of Romania (Biserica Ortodoxă Română), is one of the autocephalous Eastern Orthodox churches in full communion with the Eastern Orthodox family. It is one of the nine Patriarchates within the Eastern Orthodox communion. Nearly 85.9% of the Romanians are faithful of the Chruch apart from 720,000 Moldovans who are also its members. Led by Patriarch Daniel (since 1997), the Romanian Orthodox Church is one of the most powerful institutions in the country.
