Patriarch Porfirije: The Serbian Orthodox Church Is Not Limited to the Territories of Serbia, but Lives Wherever the Descendants of Saint Sava Are Found

Buenos Aires – Argentina: On 8 November 2023, His Holiness Serbian Patriarch Porfirije led the Holy Liturgy in the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Buenos Aires.
In his address, Patriarch Porfirije highlighted the universal nature of the Serbian Orthodox Church, expressing that it extends wherever the descendants of Saint Sava are found. The Church’s presence in Buenos Aires, symbolized by the Church of the Nativity, serves as a testament to the enduring connection between the Serbian people and their faith, transcending geographical boundaries.
“In the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Brothers and sisters, we celebrated the Holy Liturgy in this beautiful temple, which is connected to the Holy Father Sava and which shows that the Serbian Orthodox Church is not only limited to the territory of Serbia but that it lives wherever the descendants of Saint Sava are,” Patriarch Porfirije declared during the Liturgy.
He emphasized the transformative power of faith, stating, “True unity is unity in Christ, it is unity in one faith.” Patriarch Porfirije underscored that the Church is open to all who embrace Orthodox Christianity, irrespective of their genetic or regional backgrounds.
The Holy Liturgy was attended by Reverend Bishops Arsenije of Niš, Kirilo of Buenos Aires and South-Central America, Nikodim of Dalmatia, Metodije of Budimljana-Nišići, Jovan of the Caracas and South American Russian Churches Abroad, as well as vicars Stefan and Grigorije of Remezia from the Patriarchate of Constantinople.
