Syria & Serbia: In a phone call on February 14,2024, Patriarch John X of Antioch and All the East and Serbian Patriarch Porfirije emphasized the crucial need for communication, dialogue, and convergence among all churches within the Orthodox world.
“We stress the importance of communication and building bridges of dialogue and convergence between all churches,” stated Patriarch John, highlighting the critical role of collaboration in facing shared challenges.
The conversation, described as “a review of the general reality experienced by the Orthodox Church in the world,” explored ongoing struggles and potential paths forward. The exchange of views touched specifically on the importance of “deepening the principle of dialogue” as a means to navigate global crises and conflicts.
This call for unity and open discussion underscores the long-standing relationship between the Patriarchates of Antioch and Serbia. Both leaders have previously voiced concerns about divisions within the Orthodox Church and advocated for strengthened partnerships.
