Orthodox Church in America Delegation Visits Constantinople

Constantinople – Turkey: His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon, primate of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), led a delegation on a visit to Constantinople from June 7 to 10, 2024. During their stay, they met with hierarchs and members of the Patriarchal Court at the Phanar. Discussions focused on recent trips to Ukraine and Romania, as well as matters concerning Orthodoxy in North America.
The delegation received a warm welcome from the Patriarchate. They were hosted for luncheons on both June 8th and 9th. The first luncheon included His Eminence Metropolitan Emmanuel of Chalcedon, His Eminence Metropolitan Stephanos of Tallinn and All Estonia, and other hierarchs.
A highlight of the visit was attending divine services at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George. The delegation participated in Great Vespers on June 8th and the Divine Liturgy on June 9th, where they received communion.
Following the Liturgy, a final luncheon was held with His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, Metropolitan Stephanos, and members of the Holy and Sacred Synod of Constantinople. Metropolitan Tikhon offered greetings and congratulations to the Patriarch on his upcoming Name Day on June 11th.
This visit to Constantinople marks the conclusion of Metropolitan Tikhon and the OCA delegation’s travels. They will now return home.
