Pope Tawadros II Serves Christmas Liturgy in Nativity Cathedral

Cairo-Egypt: Pope Tawadros II of Alexandria, Primate of the Coptic Church presided over the Christmas Liturgy (06/01/2023) at Nativity Cathedral in Egypt’s New Administrative Capital. A number of church pontiffs, priests and deacons, and a large number of church children participated in the prayer.

His Excellency President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, President of the Republic, attended the congratulations, and the worshipers received him with great happiness.

His Holiness the Pope delivered the homily of the Mass after reading the Bible, in which His Holiness thanked His Excellency President Sisi for coming to congratulate all Christians and Egyptians on the holiday, and praised His Holiness for the messages of reassurance that His Excellency sent to all Egyptians during his congratulatory speech.  He praised His Excellency’s keenness to establish the tradition of his attendance every year to congratulate on the feast.

His Holiness the Pope congratulated the members of the Holy Synod, priests, monks and nuns, and members of the Church in Egypt and all continents of the world on the occasion of the feast.

His Holiness also thanked his well-wishers, whether those who attended the Mass prayer or those who came to the Papal Headquarters in Cairo for the same purpose, headed by the Prime Minister, Dr.  Mostafa Madbouly, leaders and men of the armed forces and police, ministers and governors.

His Holiness also thanked the Speakers of the House of Representatives and the Senate, heads and representatives of the judicial and oversight bodies, the Governor of the Central Bank, ambassadors of some countries, all officials and public figures, media, and the press.

Then he spoke on the subject of the Christmas sermon, which was titled “Strive to be fruitful.”
