Metropolitan Philotheos Enthroned as Metropolitan of Thessaloniki

Athens- Greece: Metropolitan Philotheos, the Metropolitan-elect, was enthroned as Metropolitan of Thessaloniki on 25 November 2023, at the Hagia Sophia in Thessaloniki. He succeeded Metropolitan Anthimos, who resigned in August 2023 after 19 years of service.

The enthronement ceremony took place in the presence of Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece, as well as members of the Holy Synod. State Minister Mr. Makis Voridis represented the Greek government, and Archbishop Kegham Khatcherian represented the Armenian Church in Greece.

Bishop Philotheos of Oreoi was elected as Metropolitan of Thessaloniki on 9 October 2023, by the members of the Holy Synod.
