Belgrade-Serbia: ‘In excruciating pain, I listen to the news about a disaster, the likes of which has never happened in our nation and our Motherland, and today it happened in a Belgrade elementary school’ said Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia on 3rd May 2023 in the statement issued regarding the attack occurred in the Belgrade elementary school.

A thirteen-year-old boy opened fire at the Vladislav Ribnikar Elementary School in the capital city of Serbia on Wednesday morning which killed eight children, and a security guard and injured several others.
The statement issued by the Patriarch :
In excruciating pain, I listen to the news about a disaster, the likes of which has never happened in our nation and our Motherland, and today it happened in a Belgrade elementary school. I pray to Christ the Savior for the injured children and school workers. I pray to the Savior for their parents, brothers, sisters, and relatives and express my deepest condolences. The prayers and love of the Risen Lord and all our human care and attention are with you today, our dear children and teachers who are in Belgrade hospitals today. I ask everyone to pray to the Risen Lord for peace and mutual love. And I ask that everyone do everything in their power to stop and condemn any kind of violence, especially for the promotion of violence in public.
