Ecumenical Patriarch and Archbishop of Athens Join Forces for Ocean Protection

Athens- Greece: Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew was warmly received at the Archdiocese of Athens this afternoon by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece.

Expressing his delight to be in Greece, Patriarch Bartholomew stated, “I am happy to be here, to see the Archbishop at his seat, in the welcoming Archdiocese, and I am grateful to Mr. Mitsotakis for the invitation to participate in the Conference on Oceans.” He highlighted the opportunity to promote environmental protection during his visit. Additionally, he extended wishes for a peaceful and joyful Easter.

Archbishop Ieronymos reciprocated the warm welcome, expressing his pleasure to have the Patriarch present for “activities and the major issues that will concern you.” He emphasized the value of frequent meetings and exchange of views.

Patriarch Bartholomew’s visit comes at the invitation of the Greek government. He is scheduled to deliver the keynote address at the prestigious 9th International Conference “Our Ocean,” taking place tomorrow at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center.
