Cyprus, Greece Sign Memorandum to Preserve Holocaust Memory, Fight Anti-Semitism

Nicosia – Cyprus: In a significant step towards preserving the memory of the Holocaust and combating anti-Semitism, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed on February 27, 2024, in a special ceremony at the Cypriot Ministry of Education, Sports, and Youth.
Signatories:
- Ministry of Education, Sports and Youth of the Republic of Cyprus
- Archbishop Georgios of Cyprus for Church of Cyprus
- Ministry of Education, Religion and Sports of the Hellenic Republic
- Metropolitan Panteleimon of Maroneia and Komotini for Church of Greece
- Central Jewish Council of Greece
- Jewish Museum of Greece
Key Actions:
- Organize seminars
- Create a joint digital platform for educators in Cyprus and Greece to collaborate
- Undertake educational initiatives including:
- Annual student competition on the Holocaust
- School visits to relevant sites
- Student-led projects on the topic
Joint Working Committee:
A committee will be formed with representatives from all six signatories to identify and further develop areas of cooperation.
