Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia Expresses Grief, Prays for Peace in Israel to Ambassador of Israel to Georgia

Tbilisi -Georgia:  On 09 November 2023, His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of All Georgia was visited by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Israel to Georgia Ambassador Hadas Ester Meitzad. The meeting was also attended by Metropolitan Shio (Mujiri) of Senaki and Chkhorotsku, Metropolitan Theodore of Akhaltsikhe and Tao-Klarjeti.

The meeting, initiated by the ambassador, emphasized the enduring fraternal ties between the Georgian and Israeli peoples that have spanned centuries. Ms. Hadas Meitsad provided insights into the current situation in the Middle East, specifically addressing the October 7 terrorist attack and subsequent developments.

His Holiness Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II conveyed his condolences for the lives lost and individuals kidnapped in Israel, emphasizing that the Georgian Church offers prayers for peace and the safe release of the hostages.

Ambassador Hadas Meitsad expressed gratitude for the warm reception and conveyed her respect to His Holiness and the entire Georgian Church.
