Catholicos Karekin II Welcomes New Argentinian Ambassador, Highlights Importance of Armenian Community

Yerevan-Armenia: On July 4,2024,  in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Mr. Rafael Gonzalez Aleman, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Argentina to the Republic of Armenia. Congratulating the newly appointed Ambassador on the occasion of assuming a diplomatic mission, His Holiness reflected with satisfaction on the existing cooperation between the two countries and the warm friendly relations between the nations.

At the meeting, His Holiness conveyed to the Ambassador information about the important role played by the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin in the life of the Armenian people, in the formation of spiritual and cultural values, national identity, and national preservation mission.

During the conversation, His Holiness also touched upon the security challenges facing Armenia, the importance of protecting the just rights of the Armenian people in international courts, and the issues of preserving Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage. In this regard, the Armenian Patriarch expressed his appreciation to the Argentine authorities for the support and cooperation shown to the Armenian people.

Ambassador Rafael Gonzalez Aleman, speaking about his mission and plans in various fields, assured the Armenian Patriarch that he will do his best to further strengthen the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.

The interlocutors also referred to the Armenian community in Argentina, emphasizing that it brings its important contribution to the development and progress of the country.
