Armenian Church Engages to Protect Cultural and Religious Monuments in Artsakh

Yerevan-Armenia: The Mother See of the Armenian Orthodox Church has opened the Artsakh Spiritual and Cultural Heritage Office and Fr. Archimandrite Garegin Hambardzumyan is appointed its director. A presentation regarding the same was made in the recent meeting of the Supreme Spiritual Council of the Church held in Yervan.
The main objective of the office is to draw the attention of international organizations dealing with the protection of monuments, relevant state bodies, as well as inter-church structures, sister churches to the dangers threatening the monuments of Artsakh and to convenience them the need for programs aimed at their protection.
The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin has many times condemned the cultural genocide perpetrated by the Azerbaijani authorities, which is an undisguised expression of Armenian hatred, intolerance and hostility.
