Armenian Catholicos Aram I Holds Talks with UAE Foreign Minister on Regional Issues and Interfaith Relations

Abu Dhabi – UAE: On January 23, 2024, His Holiness Catholicos Aram met with the UAE Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, with the attendance of the Minister of State at the UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs, HE Noura bint Mohammed Al Kaabi.

During the meeting, they engaged in discussions covering various topics related to the Middle East, interreligious and intercultural dialogue, Lebanon, Armenia, and the Armenian community in the UAE.

Expressing warm appreciation and gratitude, His Holiness conveyed his thanks to the Minister’s late father, President Sheikh Zayed Bin Sultan Al Nahyan, acknowledging the latter’s pivotal role in enabling the construction of a church, Armenian school, and prelacy by allocating a piece of land to the community.

In response, the Minister of Foreign Affairs welcomed His Holiness’s visit and emphasized that Armenians not only adhere to the principles of the country and actively contribute to its economic development but also enrich its multicultural, multi-religious, and multi-racial society by preserving their religious and cultural identity.

Accompanying His Holiness Catholicos were HG Bp Mesrob Sarkissian—Prelate of UAE and Qatar, Mr. Krikor Mahseredjian—Co-Chair of the Central Council of the Catholicosate, and Mr. Varoujan Nerguizian—Chair of the Armenian National Representatives Assembly of the Diocese.
