Archbishop Simeon of Olomouc-Brno Enters Eternal Rest

Olomouc – Czech Republic: Archbishop Simeon of Olomouc-Brno (Orthodox Church of the Czech Lands and Slovakia), entered eternal rest on March 19, 2024. Funeral will be held on March 23,2024.
Archbishop Simeon of Olomouc-Brno was born on February 12, 1926.
On April 12, 2013, following the resignation of Metropolitan Christopher, Archbishop Simeon became the acting head (Locum Tenens) of the Czech and Slovak Orthodox Church. As the senior-most bishop, he assumed this temporary role until a new leader could be chosen.
However, internal disagreements within the Church cast a shadow over Simeon’s leadership. This controversy ultimately led to his removal from the position on December 9th, 2013. Archbishop Simeon’s replacement was Metropolitan Rastislav.
