Pope Tawadros II, US Ambassador Discuss Nile’s Significance, Religious Freedom

Cairo – Egypt: H.H. Pope Tawadros II received Mrs. Herro Mustafa Garg, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Cairo at the Papal Residence in Cairo on July 01,2024.
During the meeting, His Holiness referred to the ancient history of the Coptic Church, pointing out the importance of the Nile River to all Egyptians, as they have lived together throughout their history around it, and from it they derive their strong national unity.
Pope Tawadros highlighted the importance of the church building law approved by the Egyptian state in 2016, which addressed many of the problems facing Egyptian Christians related to their right to have a place where they practice their worship.
The meeting was attended by the monk Father Kyrillos St. Bishoy, Director of the Office of His Holiness the Pope, and Mrs. Barbara Soliman, Director of the Papal Office for Projects and Relations.
