Athens- Greece: The Church of Greece will host Christian children from Iran, informed Archbishop Ieronymos II during a meeting with Iranian Ambassador Malek Hossein Givzad. This announcement was made during the Iranian ambassador’s visit to the Archbishop’s Palace in Athens on August 31, 2023.

According to the official statement:

During the meeting, the Ambassador expressed gratitude to the Archbishop and extended an invitation for him to visit Iran. He also highlighted the existence of a Christian minority in Iran, emphasizing that it is respected by the broader Iranian society, and discussed the ongoing dialogue between Islam and Orthodoxy.

Archbishop Ieronymos expressed his warm welcome to the Ambassador and revealed their discussions on various topics, including the Christian community in Iran and the invitation extended to Iranian children to visit Greece. His Beatitude further emphasized the Ambassador’s condemnation of instances where the Quran was burned in Europe, echoing the sentiment that ‘where you see books burning, you will see people burning.
