His Holiness conducted a dialogue with the college members, including their proposals regarding the development of the college system, including mechanisms for discovering the talents and abilities of students and how to benefit from them.
Then His Holiness honored the members of the college’s administrative structure and academic members in each of the college’s departments. Engineer Marina then presented the project of developing and designing the website of the seminary according to the needs of the current time.
At the end of the meeting, His Holiness delivered a speech entitled “Alexandria as a Model”, during which H.H. indicated that Alexandria has always been distinguished by its ability to apply pioneering models in many service fields, and to benefit from technology, whether at the level of education or administration.
His Holiness praised the “Alexandria Theological College” not only because it presents an advanced model in teaching and learning, but also because it is considered the oldest among the Theological colleges.
H.H. summarized the role and work of the college members in the following points:
1. Self-reverence: Education is not only through lectures, teaching, and recitation but rather through example
2. Sanctifying time: the times of study, research, achievement, and delivery of curricula are sacred times, “redeeming the time because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:16), as time is the most precious thing a person can offer to others.
3. Sanctifying souls: the spirituality of education, the humility of research, the spirituality of discovering and capturing talents, cadres, and leaders, which is the most important spiritual investment for people.
4. Reverence for education: The difference between deposit and creativity is a point, but it means a lot, so one must always rely on the method of creativity, not deposit. Deposit is the banking and compulsive education, while creativity is the education of freedom, thinking, renewal, and development.
The meeting was attended by the Fathers, the General Bishops of the districts of Alexandria, and Father Abram Emil, the Patriarchal Vicar of Alexandria.
