Sofia-Bulgaria: His Majesty King Simeon II, Grand Master of the Royal Orders, Presents Western and Central European Metropolitan Anthony with the Grand Officer’s Cross of the Royal Order ‘St. Alexander'”
The order was conferred in honor of the 10th anniversary of his canonical election, his missionary works among Bulgarians in the diaspora, and his significant contributions to preserving the prayerful and historical legacy of our Royal dynasty.
The “St. Alexander” Order was established by Prince Alexander I in late 1881, initially awarded mainly to foreign dignitaries, crowned heads, and high-ranking officials, with the objective of supporting diplomacy and the efforts of the monarchy and the government to enhance the international standing of Bulgaria. Following the conclusion of the Serbo-Bulgarian War, two additional sections of the order were introduced, recognizing military and frontline achievements with crossed swords.
