Violent Assault Targets Armenian Clergy in Jerusalem Amid Legal Dispute
OCP News Service – 28/12/2023
Jerusalem-Holy Land: In a shocking development, the Divan of the Armenian Patriarchate of Jerusalem reports a massive and coordinated physical assault on bishops, priests, deacons, seminarians, and indigenous Armenians within an hour of announcing a lawsuit submission to the District Court of Jerusalem for the Cow’s Garden on 28th December 2023.
Over 30 armed provocateurs, masked and equipped with lethal and less-than-lethal weapons, stormed the Cow’s Garden, launching a vicious attack. Several priests, deacons, students of the Armenian Theological Academy and indigenous Armenians are reported to be seriously injured, with clergy members fighting for their lives.
The assault is believed to be a criminal response to legal procedures against Australian-Israeli businessman Danny Rothman (Rubenstein) and George Warwar (Hadad). The Armenian Patriarchate urges global authorities and the International Media to intervene, highlighting an existential threat to the Armenian Quarter, locally supported by unnamed entities.
The Armenian Patriarchate calls on the Israeli Government and Police to launch an immediate investigation into Danny Rothman (Rubenstein) and George Warwar (Hadad) for their alleged role in organizing continuous criminal attacks on the Armenian Patriarchate and Community. They emphasize that Israel, as a state of law and order, cannot tolerate such criminal behavior, urging swift action against the perpetrators.
