Unity Reinstated in The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church

Ethiopia: The Holy Synod of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church has released a statement announcing an end to the excommunications pronounced against the three Archbishops involved in the establishment of the so-called “Synod of Oromia and Nations and Nationalities”: Abune Sawiros, Abune Ewostatewos and Abune Zena Marqos. The end to the excommunications is the result of talks held between representatives of the Church, the government, elders and the formally excommunicated group. Speaking on behalf of His Holiness Abune Mathias, Abune Abraham thanked all who helped strengthen the unity of the Holy Synod, including the HE Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed. He also said that pastoral care would be provided for those who lost loved ones or were injured due to the crisis.
