Russian and Coptic Theological Schools Set to Collaborate in Multimodal Program

Moscow – Russia: During the meeting held November 24 – December 4 in Egypt with the blessing of His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Rus’ and His Holiness Patriarch Tawadros II of the Coptic in the field of cooperation between Russian and Coptic theological schools, an agreement was reached to begin regular cooperation of Church-wide graduate and doctoral studies with leading educational institutions of the Coptic Church in 2024. multimodal program
The corresponding negotiations were held by the first vice-rector of the Seminary of El-Muharraq monastery in the name of the Most Holy Theotokos in the province of Assiut, the secretary of the Patriarchal Committee for Education of the Coptic Church, Hieromonk Arseny El-Muharraki, and the senior lecturer of the Department of Church-Practical Disciplines of the the Saint Cyril and Methodius Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Institute, an employee of the Department for External Church Relations of the Moscow Patriarchate Sergei Alferov. The agreements were agreed upon with the rector of the Coptic Theological Academy named after St. Athanasius of Alexandria, Bishop Michael, who carries out the general management and coordination of the activities of Coptic theological schools.
The development of mutual academic initiatives is planned on the basis of the joint DECR and the Saint Cyril and Methodius Postgraduate and Doctoral Studies Institute course “Ancient Eastern Churches.” Among the projects planned for next year are the organization of meetings of teachers and students in Russia and Egypt, cross-lectures and seminars (both in person and remotely), and the exchange of literary sources.
