Antananarivo – Madagascar: Russia Orthodox Exarchate in Africa stations its first monastic community in Ambatondrazaka, Madagascar. According to the exarchate’s official sources, the community includes nun Nektaria and a group of novices who left the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Alexandria.

The official sources also mentioned the criminal case that was given against Nektaria and novices for leaving the jurisdiction of the Patriarchate of Alexandria. Exarchate also stated that the people were reluctant to take fake cases against nun Nektaria and the group, though many cases were taken against the priests who defected to the Patriarchal Exchacate of Africa under the Russian Orthodox Church.
