Moscow- Russia:  In a meeting filled with expressions of fraternal solidarity, Milorad Dodik, President of the Republic of Srpska, presented His Holiness Patriarch Kirill of Moscow and All Russia with the Republic of Srpska’s highest award, the Order of the Republic of Srpska on the chain of the order. The ceremony took place at the Patriarchal working residence in Moscow, following discussions between the two leaders.

On May 9, 2025, the meeting, attended by key figures from both sides, including Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk and Bishop Stefan of Remesian, highlighted the deep historical and spiritual ties between the Russian and Serbian peoples. Patriarch Kirill emphasized the unwavering support Russia has shown to its Serbian brothers throughout history, noting the absence of “dark spots” in their shared relations.

Dodik, expressing his joy at the meeting, conveyed greetings from Bishop Ephraim of Banja Luka and Patriarch Porfirije of Serbia. He spoke warmly of the recent visit by a Russian Orthodox Church delegation to Banja Luka and shared updates on the construction of a Russian-Serbian Orthodox Church, hoping for Patriarch Kirill’s presence at its consecration.

The President detailed the challenges faced by the Republic of Srpska, including external pressures and persecution due to its refusal to align with anti-Russian sanctions. He underscored the constant support received from Russia, contrasting it with the negative perception of Serbs in the West. “We are often even perceived as an integral part of the Russian people,” Dodik stated, affirming his strong Serbian and Russian identity.

Patriarch Kirill acknowledged the trials faced by the Serbian people, reaffirming Russia’s historical commitment to defending their independence. He praised the strong role of the Orthodox Church in fostering relations between the two nations.

The meeting underscored the enduring spiritual and cultural bonds between Russia and the Republic of Srpska, culminating in the prestigious award ceremony, a testament to the deep respect and admiration held for Patriarch Kirill.
