Pope Tawadros II Returns to Papal Headquarters After Medical Treatments

Cairo-Egypt: His Holiness Pope Tawadros II arrived at the Papal Headquarters in St. Mark’s Cathedral in Abbasiya on July 02, 2023, coming from his residence in King Mariout in Alexandria, after recovering from the seventh nerve infection that his Holiness was exposed to about a month ago.

The fathers, metropolitans, and bishops received His Holiness the Pope with great hospitality, as they were waiting for His Holiness in the outer courtyard of the Papal Residence, and they headed together to the main reception hall at the headquarters. His Holiness the Pope spoke about the illness he was subjected to, pointing out that it resulted from a great effort he made during his last pastoral trip, after which His Holiness returned to start directly the sessions of the Holy Synod, which included extensive meetings with members of the Synod to present and discuss many pastoral issues.

He hinted at the need to be careful of the sudden change in temperature resulting from being in air-conditioned places, followed by being in very hot places, which causes some damage, including inflammation of the seventh nerve. His Holiness indicated that he was keen to strictly adhere to the treatment program, which contributed to his speedy recovery.  Advising his recipients of the need to organize time and effort in a balanced way to carry out pastoral work to the fullest, while avoiding exposure to health problems, and paying attention to periodic medical follow-ups, because health is a weight that God has given us so that we can invest it properly.

For their part fathers expressed their congratulations to His Holiness the Pope on his return and recovery, wishing his Holiness more health, and that God grant him strength and aid to lead the Church and take care of its children while he is in full health and full of wellness.
