Patriarch John X Received Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II

Damascus – Syria: HH Patriarch Ignatius Aphrem II of Syrian Orthodox Church visited HH Patriarch John X of Antioch on February 22,2024 at the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate in Damascus.
During their deliberations, both patriarchs emphasized the significance of their churches’ roles in bearing witness to Christ, particularly in the tumultuous landscape of the Middle East. Against a backdrop of strife and adversity, the leaders reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the principles of peace, compassion, and solidarity.
Central to the discussions was the grave situation plaguing the Middle East, where countless lives are marred by the ravages of war, displacement, and economic turmoil.
The meeting also touched on the file of the kidnapped Bishops of Aleppo, Boulos Yazigi and Yuhanon Ibrahim, the situation in Gaza, and the need to stop the sinful war on the Palestinian people.
