Orthodox Church of Albania Calls for Immediate Ceasefire in Jerusalem

Tirana – Albania: The Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania urges an immediate ceasefire and the initiation of sincere dialogue to end the suffering and conflicts in Jerusalem. Expressing solidarity with the afflicted, the Church seeks lasting peace and harmony in the region.

Full Statement:

Following the telephone conversation of His Beatitude, the Archbishop Anastasios of Albania with His Beatitude Patriarch Theophilus of Jerusalem, it was emphasized that the Autocephalous Orthodox Church of Albania participates in the pain of the suffering peoples of that province.

The ancient law on retribution “an eye for an eye” and “a tooth for a tooth” not only defines the right to take revenge, but also sets the limits of this retribution: “An eye for an eye”, but not a beheading instead of an eye.

Our constant call and plea is for an immediate ceasefire and the start of a serious dialogue.
