Church of Saint Michael the Archangel consecrated in Jasenovo Polje near Nikšić

His Eminence Amfilohije, Archbishop of Cetinje and Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and Their Graces Joanikije, Bishop of Budimlje-Niksic and Grigorije, Bishop of Zahumlje-Herzegovina and the Littoral consecrated a new church of Saint Michael the Archangel in Jasenovo Polje near Nikšić on Thursday, October 18th.
Several thousand believers, among which there was the famous Serbian tennis player Novak Đoković with his family, were present at this ceremony.
Following the consecration of the church, His Eminence Amfilohije, Metropolitan of Montenegro and the Littoral and Their Graces Bishops Grigorije and Joanikije celebrated the Holy Hierarchal Liturgy with the concelebration of the clergy of the Diocese of the Diocese of Budimlje-Nikšić and Zahumlje-Herzegovina.
The Ambassador of Serbia to Montenegro Mr. Zoran Lutovac and other invitees were attended the solemn ceremony, as well. On this occasion Metropolitan Amfilohije addressed the faithful from all parts of Montenegro, Serbia and the Republic of Srpska.
With the blessing of His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and on behalf of the Holy Assembly of Bishops His Grace Joanikije, Bishop of Budimlje-Nikšić presented an Order of Saint King Milutin to Mr. Srđan Đoković, Novak’s father.
Mr. Peter Đoković, the President of the Committee for the church construction welcomed Mr. Novak Đoković and presented to him a traditional Serbian music instrument – gusle.
