Metropolitan Zachariah Anthonios Enters Eternal Rest

Malankara – India: Metropolitan Zachariah Anthonios, former metropolitan of the diocese of Kollam and Kochi entered eternal rest on August 20, 2023. After retirement in 2022, he led a monastic life at Saint Anthonios Monsatry in Mallappally (Thiruvalla). Details of his funeral will be updated according to the announcement.
His Grace was born on 19 July 1946 to Mr. WC Abraham and Mrs. Mariamma of Attumalil Varambathu, Punallor, Pathanamthitta. On the educational front, he took his BA from Kerala University, GST from Old Theological Seminary, and BD degree from Serampore University.
As a priest, his grace served at the Kollam Bishop House as the manager. He served many parishes including Nedumbayikulam, Kulathupuzha, and Kollam Kadeesa. He was elected as metropolitan on 28 December 1989 and was ordained on 30 April 1991 by HH Baselios Marthoma Mathews I.
