Metropolitan Tikhon of Orthodox Church in America Completes Visit to Ukraine

Kyiv – Ukraine: His Beatitude Metropolitan Tikhon of All America and Canada, the Primate of the Orthodox Church in America (OCA), concluded his visit to Ukraine on June 4, 2024.

Metropolitan Tikhon’s visit, which began on June 1st in Chernivtsi, aimed to strengthen ties between the OCA and Ukrainian Orthodox communities. During his four-day trip, he:

  • Officiated at a service at the Bancheny Monastery.
  • Visited the Pochaiv Lavra, a revered pilgrimage site.
  • Toured the Holy Spirit Skete, a monastic community.
  • Explored monasteries, convents, and churches in the Ternopil and Chernivtsi-Bukovyna Eparchies (dioceses).

On his final day, Metropolitan Tikhon visited the Vvedensky Convent in Chernivtsi. He learned about the monastic life there, interacted with the nuns, venerated the relics of the convent, and offered blessings to the faithful.

He also toured the Residence of the Metropolitans of Bukovyna and Dalmatia, a historical architectural complex built between 1864-1882.

Metropolitan Tikhon’s visit to Ukraine signifies a growing connection between the Orthodox Church in America and the Ukrainian Orthodox Church.
