Harare – Zimbabwe: Angelic Molen of Harare was ordained as Deaconess Angelic by Metropolitan Serafim of Zimbabwe (Kykotis) at St. Nektarios Mission Parish in WaterFall on May 2, 2024 (Holy Thursday). The ordination is said to be the first of its kind, done with the synodal decision of the Greek Orthodox Patriarchate of Alexandria.
Metropolitan Serafim explained that Deaconess Angelic will have both liturgical and pastoral duties, similar to those of a deacon. These duties will be tailored to meet the specific needs of the Orthodox communities in Zimbabwe.
The Orthodox Deaconess website reports that Deaconess Angelic is a respected member of the St. Nektarios Mission Parish community. She has a long history of service, having organized church school programs, mothers’ groups, and youth meetings. She is also dedicated to environmental stewardship and is currently pursuing a university degree in Geography and Environmental Studies.
