Metropolitan Georgij Consecrated in Ohrid Significant Ordination in the Macedonian Orthodox Church

Ohrid- Macedonia: A solemn episcopal consecration was held at the Cathedral Church of the Ohrid Archbishops – St. Sophia, in the city of Ohrid, on July 13, 2025. His Beatitude Archbishop Stefan, Primate of the Macedonian Orthodox Church-Ohrid Archbishopric, presided over the Divine Liturgy and the ordination of the newly elected Metropolitan of Debar and Kichevo, His Eminence Georgij (Gjorgjevski).
The Liturgy was attended by representatives from various spheres of public life, including Prime Minister Hristijan Mickoski, Deputy Prime Ministers Aleksandar Nikolovski and Ljupcho Dimovski, Minister of Internal Affairs Panche Toshkovski, and Ms. Olivera Trajkovska, Director of the Commission for Religious Communities and Religious Groups. Also present were state and local officials, scholars, university rectors, and professors.
Concelebrating with His Beatitude were Their Eminences: Metropolitan Petar of Prespa and Pelagonia, Metropolitan Naum of Strumica, Metropolitan Jovan of Krushevo and Demir Hisar, Metropolitan Pimen of Europe, Metropolitan Ilarion of Bregalnica, Metropolitan Josif of Tetovo and Gostivar, and Metropolitan Grigorij of Kumanovo and Osogovo. Also participating were Bishop Joakim of Deljadrov and Ilinden and Bishop Marko of Delchevo and Kamenica, together with all auxiliary bishops of the Macedonian Orthodox Church. Numerous clergy from the Macedonian Church and sister Orthodox Churches were present in prayerful support.
This blessed event reaffirms the spiritual vitality and apostolic continuity of the Macedonian Orthodox Church.
