Tallinn- Estonia: In a surprising development, Metropolitan Evgeniy of Tallinn and All Estonia announced his departure from the country today after being denied an extension of his temporary residence permit.
On February 5th, officials notified Metropolitan Evgeniy of the decision, prompting him to leave Estonia the following day. Before departing, he addressed his flock with a message of faith, urging them to “remain in complacency, thank God for everything, and not lose the spiritual joy that the Lord expects from all of us.”
Despite the unexpected turn of events, Metropolitan Evgeniy emphasized the recent accomplishments of the Estonian Orthodox Church, including the first bishop consecration in decades and the convening of a council. He assured his followers that church life would continue under the leadership of two remaining vicar bishops and expressed his continued care for the community.
