Metropolitan Anthony Appointed New Chairman of the External Church Relations Dept. (DECR) of the Russian Orthodox Church

Moscow-Russia: Metropolitan Anthony of Chersonesus and Western Europe is appointed as the new Chairman of the DECR of the Moscow Patriarchate by the Holy Synod. He is also confirmed as a permanent member of the Synod of the Russian Church.
Metropolitan Hilarion has been released from the Chairmanship of DECER and has been appointed as the administrator of the Administrator of the Budapest-Hungarian Diocese.
Anthony will hold the title Metropolitan of Volokolamsk as the Chairman of the DECER. Earlier he has been a consultant to the then DECR chairman Metropolitan Kirill of Smolensk and Kaliningrad (now Patriarch of Moscow and All Russia). Metropolitan Antony has graduated from the Saint Petersburg Theological Seminary. He has also served as a teacher at the Smolensk Theological Seminary. Moreover, he has served as the head of Patriarchal Exarchate in Western Europe (Moscow Patriarchate), Russian Orthodox Diocese of Chersonesus and Patriarchal exarch in Western Europe. Met. Antony has spent a considerable amount of time ministering the Russian Orthodox faithful in Italy.
