High-Level Meeting Fosters Closer Ties Between Russian Orthodox Church and Malankara Orthodox Church

Moscow – Russia: On June 27, 2024, Metropolitan Anthony of Volokolamsk, chairman of the Moscow Patriarchate’s Department for External Church Relations, met with Rev. Ashwin Fernandes, Secretary of Department of Ecumenical Relations of the Malankara Orthodox Church. The meeting, which took place at the DECR, was also attended by Hieromonk Stefan (Igumnov), DECR secretary for inter-Christian relations.

The participants in the meeting discussed a wide range of issues pertaining to the relations between the Russian Orthodox Church and the Malankara Orthodox Church, including projects in progress aimed at developing bilateral cooperation in the academic, youth, social, hospital care, media and other spheres, as well as fostering contacts at the top church level.
