Helsinki – Finland: First Armenian Cross in Finland Installed in St. Herman of Alaska Finnish Orthodox Church in Tapiola. The blessing of the new cross was held on August 19, 2023, by Bishop Tiran of Central Europe and Scandinavia of the Armenian Apostolic Church in the presence of Archbishop Leo of Helsinki and the whole of Finland.

Archbishop Leo gave a speech at the event, in which he emphasized the importance of the Armenian stone cross to the Armenian community as well as to our wider multicultural congregation and church. The cross was installed as a result of decade long dream of the Armenian community in Finland.

The cross was installed by the Finland-Armenia Association. The stone cross is placed courtyard of Tapiola church is dedicated to “the friendship of the peoples of Armenia and Finland.”
