Ethiopia Celebrated Tenth Enthronement Anniversary of Abune Mathias

Addis Ababa- Ethiopia:  The 10th anniversary of the enthronement of His Holiness Abune Mathias as the Patriarch of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church was held today, Thursday, March 3, 2023, at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.

On March 02, 2023 chronicle detailing the life and the encyclicals of His Holiness written for different feasts were released as part of enthronement anniversary celebrations.

In his address commemorating the event, His Holiness emphasized the importance of unity quoting the Gospel of John (17:11), “Holy Father, keep through thine own name those whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.” His Holiness also stressed that the solution to problems should be through patience, dialogue, and tolerance.

Abune Mathias was elected to lead the Ethiopian Church on the 28th of February 2013 and was enthroned on 03 March 2023.
