Diplomatic Meeting Between Chilean Ambassador and Patriarch of Jerusalem Advocates for Peace and Cooperation

Jerusalem-Holy Land: In a diplomatic encounter on December 13, 2023, Chilean Ambassador Sebastian Molina visited the Orthodox Patriarchate in Jerusalem, where he was warmly received by His Beatitude Theophilos III. The Patriarch, expressing hope for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, emphasized the significant Palestinian Orthodox Christian community in Chile and their enduring spiritual ties to the Orthodox Patriarchate. Despite their pastoral responsibility being with the Church of Antioch in the United States, the Patriarchate, through His Beatitude, affirmed a sincere interest in staying connected with the diaspora.
H.B. Theophilos III advocated for political solutions based on shared scriptural values and pledged to defend the Status Quo in Jerusalem. Addressing challenges posed by radical Israeli factions, he highlighted Jerusalem’s multicultural character and the Patriarchate’s collaboration with other churches for peace and Christian rights protection. Ambassador Molina expressed gratitude, vowing continued cooperation, as the meeting concluded with gift exchanges and expressions of mutual appreciation, fostering diplomatic ties for regional peace and respect.
