Bulgarian Patriarch Received in Both Mongolian and American Embassies, Calls for Strengthened Ties

Sofia – Bulgaria: His Holiness Patriarch Daniil, head of the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, has been actively engaging with the diplomatic community this week, attending receptions at both the Mongolian and American embassies.

Patriarch Daniil was received with warmth at both embassies. At the Mongolian embassy’s reception for their National Day, Her Excellency Mrs. Lhagvasuren Sayanaa, Mongolia’s Ambassador to Bulgaria, congratulated him on his recent election and enthronement. Patriarch Daniil reciprocated by highlighting the good relations between Bulgaria and Mongolia. He expressed a desire for more joint initiatives and conversations between the diplomatic service and the Bulgarian Orthodox Church. The reception was a grand affair, attended by His Majesty King Simeon II, numerous politicians, ambassadors, and public figures. Patriarch Daniil was accompanied by His Eminence Bishop Gerasim of Melnik, Secretary General of the Holy Synod.

Patriarch Daniil also attended a reception at the American Embassy hosted by H.E. Ambassador Kenneth Merten in celebration of the upcoming American Independence Day on July 02,2024. He was again congratulated on his election by Ambassador Merten, as well as many public figures and politicians, including Acting Prime Minister Dimitar Glavchev. The event included high-ranking government officials and ambassadors.

In both receptions, Patriarch Daniil emphasized the importance of collaboration. His presence at these events underscores the Bulgarian Orthodox Church’s role in fostering positive international relations.
