Australia Pledges Continued Support to Armenia, Says Ambassador in Meeting with Armenian Catholicos

Yerevan-Armenia: On April 12,2024, in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin, His Holiness Karekin II, Supreme Patriarch and Catholicos of All Armenians; received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Australia to the Republic of Armenia John Geering.
At the meeting, His Holiness referred to the security challenges facing Armenia, emphasizing with gratitude that Australia has always been supportive to the Armenian people, and also provided its important support to the depatriated Artsakh Armenians in this difficult period.
His Holiness expressed his appreciation to the Australian authorities regarding the caring attitude towards the Armenian community, which he witnessed during his pontifical visits.
Ambassador John Geering assured His Holiness that during his tenure he will make all possible efforts to strengthen and deepen bilateral ties. The Ambassador also emphasized the important mission of the Armenian Church in the life of the Armenian community, which has achieved success in Australia.
During the conversation, they talked about the protection of the rights of forcibly displaced Artsakh citizens and hostages of war, the issues related to the preservation of Artsakh’s spiritual and cultural heritage, as well as the social support programs implemented by the Church.
