Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria Receives Orthodox Church in America Delegation

Sofia – Bulgaria: His Holiness Patriarch Daniil of Bulgaria, on February 25,2025, welcomed a delegation from the Orthodox Church in America (OCA) at the Patriarchal Palace in Sofia, engaging in discussions on matters of common interest, global Orthodoxy, and the ongoing crisis in Ukraine.
The delegation, led by His Grace Bishop Gerasim of Fort Worth and Archpriest Alexander Margheritin, conveyed warm greetings from His Beatitude Archbishop Tikhon and offered congratulations to Patriarch Daniil on his election last summer.
Patriarch Daniil, having previously served as an auxiliary bishop in the United States, possesses a deep understanding of the Orthodox landscape in North America. This background facilitated a productive dialogue covering a range of topics, including opportunities for cooperation and a potential future pilgrimage.
The discussion also addressed the challenges and opportunities facing the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, with Patriarch Daniil sharing insights into the Church’s current activities and initiatives.
Both the Patriarch and the delegation emphasized the importance of continued cooperation and common prayer for peace and unity within the Church. They affirmed their shared commitment to strengthening ties and addressing the pressing issues facing the Orthodox world.
As a gesture of goodwill, the OCA delegation presented gifts to Patriarch Daniil on behalf of Archbishop Tikhon. In return, Patriarch Daniil presented books on the Bulgarian Orthodox Church and its saints to Bishop Gerasim and Archpriest Alexander.
The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to fostering closer relations and working together to promote peace and unity within the Orthodox Church.
